1) How would you suggest one prepare for a position to become an analyst at Goldman, Sachs & Co. (i.e. classes to take, publications to read, other helpful experiences)?

We are looking for well-rounded individuals who have a desire to work in the financial services industry and have an interest in our firm. We don’t pull from a narrow group of people who studied specific subjects. We offer a wide variety of career paths and seek to hire people from equally diverse backgrounds.

Generally speaking, candidates interested in our industry read financial publications which provide an understanding of the needs of our clients.  Additionally, a general understanding of how companies are valued is also a good foundation for entry level careers at GS & Co. Many candidates do so by following the movements of a particular company’s stock or bonds. Finally I think it is also helpful to be comfortable with excel basics.

2)  How would you describe Goldman, Sachs & Co.’s corporate culture?

Our culture sets us apart from other firms and is best described by our business principles. We make a tremendous effort to identify and recruit people who share our commitment to teamwork, collaboration and leadership in the communities where we work and live. As a global business, our people come from all over the world and represent different nationalities, educational backgrounds and life experiences.

3)  What’s the best thing about working at Goldman, Sachs & Co?

The people we work with and for are the best thing about working here. I know that every day when I walk into the office I’m part of a global community of talented people who understand the value of teamwork.

4)  Are they any opportunities at Goldman, Sachs & Co. for recent graduates interested in working abroad?

Yes. We maintain offices in every major financial center around the world, and we are always looking for great talent. Through our website at candidates can apply to up to three different locations and divisions with one application.
