Congratulations, you're ready to start building your network and thinking strategically about career opportunities. Do you know how to make people love you right off the bat—in a networking or interviewing context?

Great on the Job will guide you through a high-impact, hands-on session to whip your personal pitch into shape and give you the tools and strategies you need to make positive first impressions and build meaningful relationships.

Finance 101

Get a fun and fast-paced look at the financial services industry with specific emphasis on investment banking and sales and trading. Learn about different types of investment options, including stocks, bonds, mutual funds, commodities, index funds, etc. We will also cover various career tracks and demystify some of the commonly used terminology in this exciting industry.

Networking Lunch with Coaches

Investment Banking Simulation

Experience the role of an investment banker as you hone your analysis and advisory skills. Decide whether or not two different companies in the fast paced technology sector are ready to go public! Work in small teams to evaluate each company’s growth prospects, revenue potential and external competitive threats. Sponsor representatives play the role of technology company executives who are seeking capital and are hopeful that their company is ready for an Initial Public Offering (IPO).

2:15–3:15 pm

Sales and Trading Simulation

Gain hands-on experience bringing a company public through the IPO process. Experience market gyrations once a company has issued stock. Participants play the role of sales brokers who will decide whether the recent IPO stock is a buy, hold or sell. Sponsor representatives play the role of investors who are potential buyers of stocks in the technology sector. Each team will calculate their client’s returns and prizes will be awarded to leading teams.

3:30–4:45 pm

The Inside Scoop: Hot Topics for a Career in Finance

Learn tips and strategies on preparing for interviews and internships during our hot topic round tables featuring women in various finance roles. You’ll gain insights on a “day in the life” of an entry-level employee and have your questions answered by role models from several sponsor companies.

4:45–5:00 pm

5:00–6:00 pm
