Dr. Donald C. Martin, Ph.D., Author of “Roadmap for Graduate Study. A Guide for Prospective Graduate Students."

Dr. Donald C. Martin, Ph.D., has 28 years of experience in the fields of enrollment and student services, including 11 years as the Director of Admissions and Financial Aid & Associate Dean of Enrollment Management at the Booth School of Business at Chicago. He is the author of “Roadmap for Graduate Study. A Guide for Prospective Graduate Students.”

Jennifer Abella, Director of Culture & People Development, FleetwoodGoldcoWyard

Jennifer Abella holds Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Anthropology from the University of Virginia and an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis. She joined Barry-Wehmiller after graduating from Wash U and spent the first two years of her post-MBA career on B-W’s corporate team as an Organizational Development Specialist. In 2006, Jennifer became the Director of Culture and People Development for FleetwoodGoldcoWyard, one of Barry-Wehmiller’s manufacturing divisions. In this role, she is responsible for Employee Relations, Recruiting, Environmental Health & Safety, Performance Management, and Training & Development for all of FGW’s US locations. She also oversees the creation and implementation of Training & Development programs for FGW’s UK facility.  A native of upstate New York, she now lives in Oak Park with her husband.

Adelle Infante, Senior Manager, Public Affairs, Abbott Labs

Adelle Infante graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of the Pacific.  She holds an MBA from the University of Notre Dame Mendoza College of Business.  Since joining Abbott in 2005, Adelle has served in both investor and media communications roles.  She currently serves as Senior Manager for Public Affairs where she is a corporate spokesperson for global financial and litigation issues at a Fortune 100 company.  Adelle serves on an alumni advisory board for the Mendoza College of Business and is an avid SCUBA diver.

Liza Kirkpatrick, Associate Director, Career Management, Northwestern Kellogg School of Management (Moderator)
Liza Kirkpatrick currently manages Kellogg’s team of Industry Relationship Managers which oversees all employer-related services.  She specifically liaisons with Kellogg recruiting partners in the High Tech, Consumer Package Goods, Hospitality and Retail industries.  In addition employer activities, Liza delivers career education workshops as well as individual career coaching to Kellogg’s full time student population. 

Liza’s professional experience includes 13 years in the staffing industry managing recruiting teams and designing recruiting strategy for a Chicago based staffing company which was later acquired by a multi-national firm.  While taking a break from the corporate world to focus on family, Liza expanded her business expertise by taking on a leadership role with a non-profit support group of Northwestern Memorial Hospital.  In this role, Liza led a capital campaign which raised over $1.5M in support of the new Prentice Woman’s Hospital. 

Liza joined Kellogg’s Career Management Center in December of 2009.  Liza holds her undergraduate degree in Industrial Relations from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Jen Song, Marketing Manager, Pepsico

Jen graduated with a Masters of Business Administration in 2009 from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan.  She also has a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Duke University.  She was a marketing intern with PepsiCo Chicago in the summer of 2008 and returned for a full-time position after she graduated the following year.  She led the marketing support for a newly-launched brand called Trop50 before transitioning to Tropicana Shopper Marketing last fall.  Jen co-founded an a cappella group in Chicago with a business school classmate and likes to work out, volunteer and spend time with friends in her free time.

Kristine Wexler, Principal and Senior Client Account Manager, Bessemer Trust

Ms. Wexler is a Principal and Senior Client Account Manager of Bessemer Trust based in Bessemer’s Chicago office.  She joined Bessemer Trust in 2000 as a member of the Client Account Management group. From 2000 to 2006, Ms. Wexler was a Client Account Manager in Bessemer’s New York office. In June 2006, Ms. Wexler transferred to the Chicago office where she is primarily responsible for the management of individual and trust relationships.

Ms. Wexler earned a B.S. in Biology and Philosophy from Syracuse University and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business with concentrations in Finance, Entrepreneurship and Economics. She is a Certified Financial Planner TM, Certified Trust and Financial Advisor.

Colleen Curry is the Chief Operating Officer for the Massachusetts School Building Authority.  Prior to joining the MSBA, Colleen worked as a management consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton and Deloitte Consulting, where her work focused on strategic planning, performance management, and organizational assessment and design for global businesses, federal government agencies, and local and international nonprofit organizations.  Colleen is a cum laude graduate of Harvard College and earned her MBA from the Yale School of Management.  She is a Board Member of the Boston Chapter of the Yale SOM Alumni Association and Community Consulting Teams, an organization that provides pro-bono consulting services to Massachusetts nonprofits.

Farah Hussain, Customer Marketing Manager, Intuit

Farah Hussain is a Customer Marketing Manager at Intuit Inc., where she is focused on growing the QuickBase business. She served as a Forté Foundation Fellow from 2009-2011 while pursuing her MBA at the F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College. In 2011, Hussain was the graduate student winner of the Nan Langowitz Women Who Make a Difference Award. She received this recognition for her entrepreneurial contributions to the graduate school community. Hussain is from the Boston area and has a B.A. from Wellesley College.

Ann Nowak has been recruiting for Liberty Mutual’s Corporate Development Program (CDP) a general management leadership development program for 7 years. Ann also leads Liberty’s effort to help the Liberty business groups find diverse talent to meet their hiring objectives. Prior to joining Liberty, Ann worked in non-profit and education, both in the student services functions.

Amber Wigmore Alvarez is currently a PhD candidate at the School of Economics and Management Science, ETEA- Universidad de Córdoba (Spain), in the “Planning, Management and Socio-Economic Environment of Businesses” Doctoral program. Her areas of research that have led to presentations at national and international conferences, as well as publications, include the analysis of sustainability in higher education institutions and careers in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainability. She also holds an International MBA from IE Business School and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Hispanic Studies and International Economics from Wheaton College (Norton, MA, USA).

As Executive Director of Career Services and Professor of Career Strategy at IE in Madrid, she manages a team of 20 people who deliver career services to 2,800 current students and 42,000 alumni globally. In addition to her role at IE, she is also the Co-Founder of Wigmore & Álvarez, a full-service consulting firm specializing in foreign business creation and development in Spain. She  regularly conduct courses on “Intercultural Management” and “Doing Business in Spain” for foreign executives in Spain at multinational companies such as BP, Biogen Idec, Pepsico, Johnson & Johnson Medical, Abbott Laboratories, Westinghouse, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Danone, Berlitz, Cisco Systems, Horizon Wind Energy, etc.

Amber is active in the American Women’s Club of Madrid, AMAPAMU (the Madrid Multiple Birth Association), her daughters’ bilingual school and is Co-Founder of the Wheaton Alumni Club on the Iberian Peninsula. She lives in Madrid with her husband and twin daughters.

Jenny Bradley Heflin, Management Consultant, Accenture

Jennifer Bradley Heflin is a management consultant in Accenture’s Talent & Organization practice. She partners with clients to help prepare them for large enterprise-wide transformations. Jennifer is currently serving as the Program Manager for the KIPP (Knowledge is Power Program) account. She partners with KIPP to build national strategies that will enable more “KIPPsters” to climb the mountain to and through college, and into successful and sustainable careers! Additionally, Jennifer is passionate about developing and inspiring the next generation of female leaders. She recently co-authored an article called “If you want to be the boss, don’t act like a secretary” in Forbes.com that focused on leadership and gender dynamics. Jennifer received her BS magna cum laude from Georgetown University and her MBA degree Beta Gamma Sigma from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. While attending Georgetown MBA, Jennifer served as the President of Georgetown Women in Business (GWiB).

 Peg Jobst, Senior Vice President, Graduate Management Admissions Council (Moderator)
Peg Jobst is Executive Vice President at the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC).  She is the GMAC officer responsible for the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), a computerized-adaptive, high stakes admission test offered annually to over 210,000 test takers in over 110 countries, worldwide.  Peg provides, structure, direction, and oversight to the management, operations, and ongoing development of the following departmental functions – GMAT Program, Research and Development, Product Development, Marketing Operations. Peg has been affiliated with GMAC for 16 years during which time she has specialized in issues of data privacy, test accommodations, security and access. 

Peg is an active member of the Association of Test Publishers, where she has served on the board since 2008 and recently served as chairman. Prior to her work with GMAC, Peg was a Certified Public Accountant at Ernst and Young, American Institute of Public Accountants and Arthur Young and Company.  Peg holds a BBA degree from the University of Texas at Austin and is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Texas.

Prior to UPS, Alantria was a Consumer Insights Manager at Procter & Gamble, where she led research programs to guide strategy for the Clairol and Always brands.  Alantria holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech and an MBA from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. In her free time, she enjoys reading and supporting organizations focused on the development of young girls.

La Shonda Fulmore Oglesbee, Principal, North Highland Company

LaShonda Oglesbee graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts from Spelman College. She holds an MBA from The Goizueta Business School of Emory University. Currently, LaShonda is a Principal at North Highland in the Change Management service area. In this role, LaShonda manages the account for one of North Highland’s largest clients, which entails developing the strategy for operating and growing the account, managing consulting resources, and serving as the Change Management Lead for a global project.
 
LaShonda has played an active role in the community. She served on the Board of Directors for Quality Care for Children and the Women Economic Opportunity Project.  Additionally, she received Pathbuilder’s award for “ Mentor of the Year.”
 
LaShonda lives in Atlanta with her husband (Coleman) and her son (Cole).

Lauren's background includes market research, consulting, and evaluation work in the private, government, and nonprofit sectors.  She is currently the Evaluation and Planning Director at Dallas Women's Foundation, where she serves on the grants team to ensure that the Foundation is supporting the needs of our community in the most efficient and effective ways possible.  Lauren and her husband attended business school together and now live in Dallas with their wire-haired dachshund, Harry.

Tiffany Clay, Vice President, TPG Capital, Harvard Business School, MBA 2012
Ms. Clay is a Vice President at TPG, the San Francisco based private equity firm.  She joined the firm in 2008 prior to attending Harvard Business School. Before joining TPG she was a consultant with McKinsey & Co., serving clients on energy and environment-related projects throughout North America and the Middle East. At McKinsey she spent a year as a researcher on the McKinsey Greenhouse Gas Abatement Initiative, a project sponsored by McKinsey, the Natural Resources Defense Council, the Environmental Defense Fund, and a consortium of private sector clients to assess the relative attractiveness of greenhouse gas abatement options and create an abatement cost curve (published in December 2007 as “Reducing U.S. Greenhouse Gas Emissions: How Much at What Cost?”). Ms. Clay received her M.B.A. from Harvard Business School where she graduated with high distinction as a George F. Baker Scholar.  She received a B.A. from Yale University where she graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. She is a member of the Board of the World Resources Institute.

Trisha Eggleston is the Manager of the Finance MBA and Global Finance Development Programs at Chevron Corporation.  She is responsible for recruiting and mentoring high potential Finance employees for Chevron’s fast-track management development programs. Ms. Eggleston joined Chevron as a Finance MBA Development Program Financial Analyst in 2006 completing rotations in Global Upstream, Global Downstream, Business Development, and Corporate Finance roles in Chevron’s Luanda, Angola and San Ramon, California offices.  Ms. Eggleston holds an MBA from Rice University’s Jones School of Management and a BS in Materials Science & Engineering from Northwestern University. Prior to joining Chevron, she worked as a consultant specializing in manufacturing and pharmaceutical industries for a boutique consulting firm and as a new product development engineer for a medium-sized semiconductor manufacturing company in Chicago, Illinois.

Betsy Flanagan graduated cum laude, with an A.B. in anthropology, from Harvard College. She earned her MBA from the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business. Early in her career, she founded, led, and then sold Georgetown Tutors (now Georgetown Learning Centers, www.learnglc.com), a college prep tutoring center. Betsy also founded and anchored Startup Studio, an educational audio and video podcast with the mission of inspiring business innovation. Most recently, she was VP Social Media Strategy at Wells Fargo Bank. Working with teams across Wells’ 80+ business lines, Betsy created and managed a variety of innovative and robust social media programs and segment strategies. She currently serves as the VP of Student Engagement for Altius Education, where she is passionate about helping students succeed and achieve their academic and life goals. Betsy speaks frequently at major new media industry events including CES, SXSW, and Blogworld/Social Media Business Summit. She lives in San Francisco.

Jewel Huijnen is a Vice President at Two Sigma Investments, a leading process-driven investment manager that invests in global equities, futures, FX, and various derivatives markets.  Prior to joining Two Sigma, Jewel was an Associate Director at J.P. Morgan Alternative Asset Management where she worked on both internally-managed hedge funds, as well as externally seeded hedge funds. Prior to joining J.P. Morgan, Jewel worked as a Fund of Funds Analyst at the $5B hedge fund investment adviser (currently New Holland Capital) of the $250B Dutch APG pension fund, where she managed investments in pioneering hedge fund strategies. Prior to joining APG, she was a Strategy Consultant at Accenture in Europe.
