Why start a male ally group?
Besides sheer profitability, [employing female leaders] makes businesses a good place to be...What we hope is that men and women will go to business schools and see women, and that will be something that seems normal.
Men who champion gender equity—known as male allies—help businesses win bigger. You are likely aware of the business case for gender diversity: greater profitability, greater creativity and innovation, less risk - and with each new research study the list of benefits lengthens. Supporting women in the workplace is not a women’s issue. It is a people issue! Male Ally groups on both business school campuses and within the workplace are excellent ways to begin changing an environment and culture.
Men in companies and business schools are increasingly partnering with female peers to encourage gender equity through male ally groups. However even those with the best intentions can fall short if they do not have resources to help them fully develop these male ally programs. Forté has thus created Toolkits, both for MBA Programs and for Corporates, which provide information, ideas and best practices so that you can be successful in your Male Ally initiative.
