Mollie Dube arrived at the Forté MBA Leadership Conference with a mental map of where her career might lead.
With a background in nursing and an interest in business, she could easily picture herself pursuing opportunities in healthcare or medical devices.
DaVita wasn't on the map.
That changed at the conference, where Mollie connected with the recruiting team at DaVita. They saw something in Mollie's experience that Mollie had not yet fully seen for herself: a path where her clinical background, business interests, and leadership potential could come together in a different kind of healthcare career.
They described her combination of nursing experience and MBA as a "superpower."
The connection almost ended there.
Without realizing it, Mollie had written the wrong email address on her conference form. DaVita tried to follow up after the event, but the messages never reached her.
As far as Mollie knew, the conversation had simply come to an end.
Then, on her way home from the conference, she unexpectedly crossed paths with a DaVita recruiter at the airport. During a brief conversation, they discovered the problem: every follow-up email had bounced back. A quick exchange of contact information reopened the door.
What could have been a missed connection became the start of a new career path.
Today, Mollie serves as a Regional Operations Director at DaVita, overseeing multiple clinics and helping shape the patient and employee experience across her region.
Her story is a reminder that the Forté MBA Leadership Conference isn't just about meeting companies you already know. Sometimes, it's about discovering opportunities you never considered and meeting people who recognize potential you haven't fully recognized in yourself.
