Dear Corporate Girlies,
Welcome to our new newsletter for ambitious women who want careers and joy, promotions and personality, success and a life.
We’re sliding into the end of Q1, so… how are we feeling?
- Annual review: slayed or betrayed?
- Raise: secured or “maybe next cycle”?
- Promotion: on track or mysteriously missing from the conversation again?
If you’re feeling that “I need to make a move” itch — but you’re not emotionally prepared to update your résumé or write a cover letter — we see you. Our virtual career fair is the lowest‑lift way to meet real recruiters from companies that actually invest in women. No pressure, no awkward small talk.
Let’s Talk Job Descriptions for a Sec
If no one has told you this yet: those “requirements” are… vibes. Guidelines. Aspirations. Not commandments.
If you’re skipping roles because you don’t check every box, that’s not a you problem — it’s a system problem. One of my colleagues wrote a fantastic breakdown of why job descriptions are basically fan fiction. Highly recommend.
Power Skill of the Month: Managing Up
Managing up = making your boss’s job easier without becoming their emotional support human.
It’s wildly underrated. I’ve seen people get promoted not because they’re the strongest performers, but because they’re elite at managing up. Melody Wilding literally wrote the book on this and led a workshop for us for International Women’s Day. You can watch the recording — 2x speed is between us.
Career Question of the Month
“How do I know if I’m ready for my next big move?”
If the office vibes feel… off, and no one is giving you the tea, pause before assuming it’s about you. SoYou’re ready if:
- You've outgrown your current responsibilities
- You're bored more than you're challenged
- You’re doing the job above you without the title
- You’re craving growth, not just stability
- You’re literally asking this question

Your next move doesn’t have to be a promotion. It could be a pivot, a stretch assignment, a new skill, or exploring whether an MBA fits your long‑term goals.
If you want to talk about it, email me. I’m listening.

P.S. The Group Chat Is Also Debating
- The perfect OOO message that says “I care about boundaries” without sounding unhinged
- Matching WFH sets that feel like pajamas but look like “I’m on camera today”
- How to politely remind coworkers that yes, you do in fact have expertise
- Calendar management as a survival sport
- Getting enough of anything — sleep, gym time, fiber, books, coffee
