How One Conference Helped Anuva Wardah See a Future for Herself in Finance

When Anuva Wardah arrived at the College Fast Track to Finance Conference, she wasn’t sure how her background in Political Science and Sociology would translate into a finance career. As someone deeply involved in civic engagement, global affairs, and social impact work, she had always been curious about the industry — but also unsure whether she belonged in it.

That changed quickly.

During the Finance 101 Roundtables and small‑group networking conversations, Anuva heard candid stories from women who had taken nonlinear paths into finance. Some had switched industries. Others had started in majors far outside business. Many spoke openly about early uncertainty, imposter syndrome, and the courage it takes to pursue something new.

“The honesty about setbacks, imposter syndrome, and early career uncertainty made the industry feel more accessible,” Anuva shared. “It reminded me that ambition and self‑advocacy are skills that can be developed.”

For Anuva, who has built her academic and leadership experience around global affairs, equity, and community impact, these conversations were transformative. She realized that finance isn’t a closed ecosystem — it’s a field that values analytical thinking, curiosity, and the ability to understand people and systems. Her interdisciplinary background wasn’t a barrier; it was an asset.

The conference also reshaped how she thinks about career preparation.

“Preparation goes beyond technical knowledge — it includes relationship‑building, confidence, and being proactive about seeking mentorship,” she said.

By the end of the day, Anuva felt more empowered, more informed, and more motivated to explore opportunities she once thought were out of reach. The experience helped her see herself not just as a student exploring possibilities, but as someone who could thrive in a professional space that wasn’t originally designed with her in mind.

Today, as she continues her work in global affairs and civic leadership, Anuva carries forward the confidence she gained at College Fast Track to Financeconfidence to ask questions, to take up space, and to pursue opportunities that push her outside her comfort zone.

Her story is a powerful example of what happens when talented students are given access, role models, and real conversations with professionals who believe in their potential.
